With the release of the Soul back in 2009, Kia created a vehicle that had a truly iconic look.
This is a vehicle that is impossible to miss on the road, and a big part of the reason for that is the fabulous use of eye-catching exterior colors.
Kia have adopted the same approach with the all-electric Soul EV, and have now added a pair of new colors to the 2016 model year.
The addition of Shadow Black and Bright Silver means that the 2016 Kia Soul EV consumers now have 6 different exterior colors to choose from.
Color is just the beginning of the changes to the 2016 Soul EV, with a new trim level being the biggest move Kia is making.
Look for the less expensive EV-e to be added into the mix when the new model year is delivered.
The starting price of $31,950 was achieved by stripping away a few of the features that were found in the old base model.
The updated 2016 Soul electric vehicle now becomes the middle trim level, and comes with standard features like a navigation system, heat pump HVAC, folding side mirrors with turn signals, upgraded windshield washers, rear backup camera display, UVO eServices, wheel locks, and more.
The top of the line EV+ has all of that, plus leather seats, parking assist, upgraded interior lights, heated and ventilated seats, and the option for a panoramic sunroof.
One area where you won’t find any changes is with the powertrain and battery packs, simply because they didn’t need to be improved upon.
The driving range delivered by the 27 kiloWatt-hour battery pack delivers a 93 mile EPA certified range, which is well ahead of the average in the 80’s offered by the competition.
The 2016 model comes with an EPA MPGe of 92 miles highway and 120 miles in the city for a combined 105 miles.
All the new Kia Soul models should be available by the end of July.
Kia has already expended the availability of the vehicle to Georgia, with Oregon and Washington State taking delivery very soon.
