The third-generation Sorento crossover vehicle has been spotted testing all over the globe lately.
These latest Kia spy shots take us to Korea where someone has captured a fully camouflaged Sorento prototype while parked in a garage.
Codenamed UM, the fully-redesigned Sorento CUV is expected to make its official public debut next year and will go on sale as a 2016 model.
Despite the heavy disguise it is clearly evident that the new model takes some styling cues from the hot-looking CrossGT concept crossover vehicle.
It appears that the forth-coming Sorento incorporates a more upright signature grille similar to the just recently unveiled Cadenza premium sedan.
The vehicle also appears to be slightly lower and longer than the current model.
The added length will provide more space inside the cabin, which is also expected to receive a complete makeover for the 2016 model year.
The 2016 Kia Sorento is expected to share its platform with the all-new Santa Fe SUV.
Along with the platform, the new Sorento will also share the engine range with the latest Hyundai Santa Fe.
Details at this point are extremely limited but we expect the model to adopt a 264-horsepower 2,0L T-GDI turbo engine and a 290-horsepower V6 unit from its sibling model.
Latest rumors also suggest that Kia may also introduce a hybrid version of the next-generation Sorento.
In this case, the Sorento would probably get Kia’s hybrid-electric powertrain which is currently available in the Optima mid-size sedan.
The public may get its first glimpse of the production-ready Kia Sorento at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2014. [Photosource: Blog Naver ]
