The redesigned Optima 4-door sedan will look much better than the model it replaces.
Kia today released the very first official teaser images of their next-generation Optima 4-door sedan, which is set to debut at the New York Auto Show.
Kia Motors Company released four teaser images of the next generation Kia Optima (called Magentis in Europe) mid-size sedan just a few weeks before its official worldwide premiere scheduled for New York Auto Show.
A fresh design from the ground up, Kia’s latest generation of its popular mid-size sedan is completely transformed and boasts a bold, athletic and sporty exterior lay-out penned by Peter Schreyer and his colleagues at Kia’s design headquarters.
Larger & more sporty
The new generation Kia midsize sedan has, reportedly, grown in size.
It is longer, lower and wider compared to the previous generation Optima sedan and it now features a significantly longer wheelbase, which means more space for both, the people and luggage.
According to the automaker, the upcoming Optima sedan is scheduled to hit the US showroom floor in fall 2010, while sales in the European markets is scheduled to commence at the beginning of 2011.

Stay tuned for more news about Kia cars.
There is no doubt that this will be more attractive than the new Sonata. I was Saving up for the Cadenza, but Now that money will be for this sweet baby!!!!!! KIA KICKS ASS!!!
I think it would be a great canidate for the West Point GA USA plant.
It would be pretty cool if they could incorporate some flush door handles. Similar to the way Aston Martin do on their cars.
Scott,
From what Chosun has reported, it WILL be built at West Point.
It would be nice if they did built this at West Point. The only problem I see is them keeping up with demand. The Sorento has been a hit at my store. Very hard getting the $34K unit from the Factory in large numbers..Did you guys hear that they are about to start production of the Sorento LX in a V6. I received a letter from KIA with that info on it…
Great looking car.
But, I have worry to Hyundai and Kia.
The Hyundai/Kia are only major auto maker who following 4 door coupe style sedan.
Even toyota, honda, GM, ford are not making 4dr coupe style sedan.
This is risky.
hyundai made radically changed new 4dr coupe style Sonata.
Kia should approach more conservative way.(Camry/Accord like sedan. no 4dr coupe style)
I think everyone’s moving towards 4-door coupes. There are a bunch of 4-door coupe/sedans already on the market and those include VW Passat CC, Opel Insighnia, MB CLS and they all sell great. More automakers are also considering bringing such cars to the market. I know ford does. They will offer new Mondeo soon and it will feature similar design, plus, I bet Honda and Toyota will also go this way with new Camry and Accord.

It’s just that Hyundai was one of the first carmaker that applied such design. Until now, Hyundai and Kia were followers, but this has changed and they are now leading the automotive world.
I agree with himi…there’s quite a few mid-sized saloons that a 4-door coupes =P
very audi a6 looking, well done kia, your cars are getting very stylish!!!!!!!!!!!
the gas milage better be an improvement or will it be ELECTRIC ….thats the bottom line now days isnt it?????????????????????? style is one thing but we can and will live with out style when we can no longer pay the GAS BILL
SO INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW … HOW MANY LETERS PER KM?
…how about diesel people? A good one can do 60mpg
MMMM ! Nice but…. be carefoul with the lines so they does NOT look tOO much to other brand name .otherwise BEUTIFOUL CAR …
Mileage is a good question. Will this car follow the Sonata’s choices or will there be a V6? I’m thinking no V6 because why would the president of Hyundai in the US be predicting the demise of the V6 midsized sedan by 2016 if he knew the Optima was coming to market with a V6, And I’d be pretty sure he knows what engines the Optima will have.
I would like to see an Optima with HKAG’s new 5.0L V8 and rear wheel drive. I could be totally happy if highway mileage stayed at or above 20 MPG. Maybe that’s just the idiotic American in me.
I dont know if they should get rid of the 4 door coupe thing. Its too late in the design process to change that as well. The Spy shots to me seems more conservative than what many of you are thinking. It has a Last Gen TSX feel to it.
Greg, not all Americans are idiotic… it is just you 😉
Yeah, I along with quite a few other Americans are still caught up in the whole V8 muscle car thing from the 60s and 70s. I am mostly over it, as I favor gas mileage. Although there is never going to be a four cylinder to match the wonderful throaty growl of a V8 engine. The engine in our Optima has a REALLY nice growl, but it is certainly not a 350.
Wow….the main reason you want a V8 is for growl….oh dear….
Yes, that is where the “idiotic American” part comes in. If you haven’t noticed, all manufacturers offer larger displacement engines in North America – it is somewhat our obsession.
