EPA range & charging
The 2019 Kia Niro EV is an FWD model powered by a 150-kW electric motor that delivers 201 horsepower and 291 pound-feet pf torque. With a top speed of 104 mph, the all electric Niro goes from 0-62 mph in just 7.8 seconds.
Also on board is a 64-kWh lithium ion battery pack which, when fully charged, delivers a driving range of 239 miles (EPA rated).
It takes 59 hours to charge this big battery on Level 1, but there is the option of a Level 2 charger that reduces the charging time to around 9 and a half hours.
If you have access to a DC fast charger, you can get the battery up to 80% full in just a half hour, thanks to a charging level of up to 100 kW.
When looking at efficiency, the Niro EV gets a miles per gallon equivalent of 123/102/112 mpg city/highway/combined. You are looking at a huge savings here, as the EPA estimates that you can travel 100 miles for just $3.92, based on the fuel efficiency figures.
2019 Niro EV release date & availability
If you head on over to the official Kia website, you can try out their online Niro configurator, which helps you create your own unique version.
With that in mind, the battery-powered 2019 Kia Niro EV is now available to buy in the US, although there is no official list of availability by U.S. state. The assumption here would be that the CARB states would get the vehicle first (to be updated!).
