The teaser videos and spy photos of the 2017 Hyundai i30 (Kia cee’d sibling) are now a thing of the past, as the third-generation model gets ready to take the stage.

Boasting a sleeker and more modern look than the model it replaces, the fully redesigned Hyundai i30, will also have a range of new engine to show off.

The i30 5-door hatchback, which shares the platform with the Kia cee’d sibling, is scheduled to hit the Hyundai showroom floor in early 2017.

But, before it goes on sale in Europe, it will make an official public debut at the Paris Motor Show.

2017 Hyundai i30 engine specs

2017 Hyundai i30There is a loot to like when it comes to the 2017 Hyundai i30 engine line-up.

Look under the hood of the Hyundai compact hatchback and you’ll find a brand new 1.4L 4-cylinder turbo engine which cranks out 138 horsepower and 179-lb.-ft. of torque.

That unit is in addition to the naturally aspirated 1.4L engine delivering 98 horsepower and 99 lb.-ft. of torque.

Also available is the fuel efficient 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo that delivers 118 horsepower and 125 lb.-ft. of torque, as well as a 1.6L diesel that comes with three separate power outputs: 94-hp, 109-hp, and 134 horsepower.

The engine choice will dictate the transmission, which will either be a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT.

Hyundai i30 2017 styling changes

The first of the visible exterior design changes is the new cascading grille. Get used to this one, as you are going to see it on a lot of upcoming Hyundai vehicles.

The grill is larger, is hexagonal in shape, and comes with a chrome outline. The new vehicle looks a little wider, courtesy of the swept back headlight design. A character line runs the length of the car from headlights to taillights, creating a truly cohesive profile.

The interior of the new model is more upscale than the current one, and incudes new tech and driver assist features.

The infotainment screen gives the appearance of floating in the center of the dashboard, and drivers can choose for a 5-inch version, or an 8-inch with navigation.

If you want to let more sunlight in, you can opt in for a 2017 Hyundai i30 with a panoramic sunroof.

New Hyundai i30 variants to be launched in 2017

When design chief Peter Schreyer showed off the new model in Frankfurt, he also revealed slides that appeared to show drawing of upcoming Hyundai i30 variants.

Unfortunately, he did not go into any detail about what those variants might be.

The only other Hyundai i30 model that has been formally announced at this point is the RN30, which is a high performance version of the 2017 i30 model.

The other two vehicles depicted in the drawings are more than likely an i30 wagon, as well as the i30 4-door sedan coupe.

Sharing parts with future Kia cee’d

We find this 2017 Hyundai i30 news highly important because all engines and infotainment technology from this car will also be shared in the near future, 2018 Kia cee’d 5-door. The 2018 Kia cee’d is coming to the market late next year!
