Which of the 5 Kia Ceed body styles do you like the most?
The Kia Ceed hatchback has become a huge success in the European market, which is where it is exclusively sold.
It was the first vehicle built in Kia’s Slovakian manufacturing plant, while also being the first Kia model to receive a 5-star EuroNCAP crash test rating, as well as winning Car of the Year accolades in several different European countries.
The idea to make the Ceed to suit European tastes has been a great one, with the family now expanded to include the 5-door hatchback, sporty GT hot hatchback, crossover, shooting brake estate and sporty wagon!
The C-segment market is a competitive one, and with the Ceed now entering its third generation, Kia have made some changes that should help keep their popular model ahead of the pack. The changes include a redesign both inside and out, as well as upgrades in safety tech, materials, and infotainment features.
The 3-door model has now been removed, but it has been replaced by not one, but two different models: the Xceed and the Proceed.
Let’s take a closer look at the new Kia Ceed family available in Europe.
1.Kia Ceed 5-door hatchback
Essentially serving as the base model, the Kia Ceed family hatchback is high on the practicality and affordability scale. It is available in both turbo petrol and diesel variants, with all those engines mated to either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT transmission.
2. Kia Ceed GT
The standard Ceed 5-door hatchbacks serves as the inspiration for the GT model, which cranks out 201-hp via a 1.6-liter turbo 4-cylinder petrol engine. Visually, the Ceed GT has some enhancements that make it stand out in the crowd. This sporty Ceed hot hatchback is able to go from 0-100 km/h in 7.6 seconds.
3. Kia Ceed Sportswagon
For people with a family to haul around, the Kia Ceed Sportswagon is the perfect choice. From the front, this model looks just like the 5-door hatchback, but with an overall length of 4,600 mm, there is a lot more space in the back. That extra space in the rear allows for a massive trunk that delivers 600L of cargo space.
4. Kia Proceed (shooting-brake)
The Kia Proceed has what is described as a “shooting brake” design, which is basically a way of saying that it is a styling mash-up of a spacious wagon and a sporty coupe. This is one of the models that replaces the previously available 3-door variant, and it is a welcome upgrade. More than just a beautifully designed model, the new Kia Proceed also comes with a spacious boot that is sized at 594L.
5. Kia Xceed crossover
The Xceed is based on the Ceed 5-door hatchback and looks a lot like an SUV. Other than the same front doors as the 5-door hatchback, the body panels on the Xceed are all unique!
It features black exterior body cladding, a redesigned bumper and grille up front, and new lighting setups in front and back. The new Kia Xceed has 12 different exterior color options to choose from, including the model unique Quantum Yellow. There are no less than 5 engine options available (3 petrol and 2 diesel).
