The 2017 Kia Rondo facelift scheduled to go on sale in Canada next year.
Kia has taken the wraps off their refreshed Rondo 7-seat minivan and here are the very-first pictures revealing the model’s mid-cycle styling tweaks.
Speaking in general, the refreshed Kia minivan, also known as the Carens in Korea, incorporates more dynamic exterior design, up-to-date safety features and more affordable price tag.
Let’s have a look at the most important changes of the 2017 model year Rondo minivan.
2017 Kia Rondo changes
As evident from the pics attached here, the new Rondo vehicle incorporates a new front fascia with larger Kia signature grille, revised front bumper with newly styled fog lamps and slightly updated headlights.
Completing the refreshed exterior are a set of revised LED taillights, slightly restyled bumper and new alloy wheels.
Under the hood, the Korean-specs Rondo comes available with a choice of two 4-cylinder engines.
The 1,7L CRDI diesel engine generates 141 horsepower, while the 2,0L LPi (liquid petroleum gas) boasts 154 horsepower.
For the first time, the new Rondo is fitted with the 7-speed DCT, which improves performance and fuel economy.
In terms of seating, the 2017 Kia Rondo is available as a five- or seven-seater.
The upgraded Kia Rondo is already on sale in Korea.
2017 Kia Rondo release date (Canada)
Kia Canada has yet to reveal the official 2017 Rondo release date, but we expect it to debut early next year at one of the auto shows in Canada.
The likely candidate is the Canadian International auto show which kicks off in February 2017.
U.S. release date
It is highly unlikely that the Rondo would re-appear in the U.S. market.
Kia Motors America has axed the compact minivan from their line up a couple of years ago and there are no signs of bringing it back any time soon.

How sad that the Rhondo is not making to the US. It is a perfect car for families just starting out and a perfect car for retired people as they don’t need the big mini-vans because their children have left the nest. hopefully the new Niro would be about the same size (interior) as the Rhondo. The senior’s that travel to Florida every year need a big enough car to get their personal items there and a great gas saver! They need a vehicle and someone who really knows how to market to this age group!
Thats a pity Kia Canada does not promote the Rondo. It is an awesome car but totally ignored by the canadian dealers. It is almost like they simply are waiting for the customers discover the model by themselves.
Currently I have 2007 Kia Ronado , Love it . now am aiming for the 2017 KIA Ronado ..
Have to drive up to Canada and get one ..
I am so mad. I didn’t know the Rondo was the Caren. I rented a Caren in England and ABSOLUTLEY loved it. I will have to see if I can find a second hand one, but I was hoping to treat myself with a new car…. Maybe I’ll drive up to Canada to get one!
Here in New York State, we owned, (and still drive) our 2008 Rondo LX V6..I was hoping they would continue to sell them here. We see a few around, Kia vehicles sell very well here in Central NY. My wifr now drives the Kia Niro, absolutely loves it. But I like the Rondo, and the styling of the newer model is beautiful! Perhaps if they sold to rental fleets first to try the waters…
Love to see it back in the US market. Own a 2008 and would buy a new one in a flash if it came back! Terrific design in every way. Guessing Kia USA thinks it would cannibalize it’s own sales.
