Which Kia models have all-wheel-drive system?

A family sedan is a nice vehicle choice, but it’s a little limited if you want to hit the road less traveled. This is where an AWD vehicle can get the job done.

That said, it’s not just off-road enthusiasts that appreciate a vehicle with all wheel drive, as it’s also a good option for people who live in parts of the country where the weather doesn’t always “co-operate”.

Kia has several AWD models ready to go, so let’s take a closer look at what’s available.

Kia SUV models with all-wheel-drive in 2023

There are 4 different Kia SUVs on sale in the United States that offer all-wheel-drive. Let’s have a look at each of them.

1. 2023 Kia Sorento AWD

This is a great looking midsize SUV that hides a lot of power inside a pretty package.

The Sorento comes with optional all-wheel-drive. The “Dynamax” AWD system uses several strategically placed electronic sensors to ensure that the right amount of power is delivered to each of the wheels on the Sorento.

This AWD system works in conjunction with Torque Vectoring Cornering Control (TVCC), which also employs sensors to help keep the vehicle stable and prevent understeer, amongst other things.

2. 2023 Kia Sportage AWD

Make no mistake about it, the Sorento is a big vehicle that might be more than some people want to handle. The new Kia Sportage, on the other hand, is smaller in size, and now comes available with the same AWD system as its bigger brother.

There is plenty of space and power to be found in the Kia Sportage SUV, making it a crossover vehicle that is perfect for everyday use, as well as for weekend adventures in the country.

3. 2023 Kia Telluride AWD

Kia Telluride is a new kid on the block. The newly-launched large SUV went on sale in U.S. with a choice of front wheel drive and all-wheel-drive. The AWD on Kia Telluride is optional.

4. 2023 Kia Seltos AWD

The latest addition to the Kia lineup in the United States is the Seltos sub-compact SUV. Positioned below the Sportage SUV, the Seltos comes standard with AWD system.

Kia sedans with all-wheel-drive in 2023

Two Kia sedans come available with all-wheel-drive in the US-market. Those are the Stinger sports sedan and newly-launched Kia K5.

5. Kia Stinger AWD

The Stinger sports sedan is the sportiest Kia model to offer AWD system in the United States. It has joined the carmaker’s range in the mid of 2018 and comes standard with rear-wheel-drive, while all-wheel-drive is optional!

6. Kia K5 AWD

Just recently released Kia K5 comes available with AWD! This eye-catching midsize sedan has repalced the popular Optima 4-door sedan and offers optional all-wheel-drive system in the US-market.

Future Kia vehicles with all-wheel-drive

Kia have not officially announced whether they will add any more vehicles with all-wheel-drive models in the future, but the Trailster concept may be a sign of what’s to come.

This concept car is a different take on the incredibly popular Soul crossover, but there are no production plans just yet.

Kia Motors have done a fantastic job of listening to the needs of the consumer over the years, so don’t be surprised to see more Kia AWD powertrain options in the future.

Questions & Answers

1. Is there a Kia Carnival AWD?

The latest generation of the Kia Carnival minivan is not offered with all-wheel-drive system. Though, latest rumors suggest that sometime in the near future, the Carnival could be offered with AWD.

2. Does Kia Stonic offer AWD?

Kia Stonic AWD isn’t available either! This is a “Europe-exclusive” small crossover, which is built on the same platform as the Rio sub-compact car. That model only supports front wheel drive!

3. Kia Soul AWD available in U.S.?

No. Unfortunately, Kia Soul does not offer all-wheel-drive. There is a variant called the Soul X-Line on sale in US. That model looks more rugged on the outside, but unfortunately does not offer all-wheel-drive!

If you are in the market for a “Soul-sized” SUV or crossover with AWD, you’d better look at the Kia Seltos SUV with all-wheel-drive system, which has just been launched in the United States.

It’s not about hitting the roads less traveled, it’s about the “customers feelings” of safety and security while driving in inclement weather and the variations of seasonal weather.

Given a choice at an affordable price, customers will choose all wheel drive, especially female customers. But that’s just my opinion.

yes it is security in snowy/icy road but AWD dont stop better in ice than non awd, so security have limits , Worst consumption of fuel, false security feeling (entertain you to go faster with better handling) but no better braking on icy condition.
Better towing capacity. It is all good feeling arguments!

Kia needs to step their game up offering more AWD to other vehicles besides just Sportage and Sorento. It’s 2017. I certainly thought ny now they would had put in AWD in more than two vechicles by now.

I hope this is true that KIA is going to put AWD systems in more of their vehicles. I especially hope that the new KIA GT/Stinger has an available AWD system and if the AWD system also had a limited slip rear diff, that would be awesome! The reason is that AWD systems are not only good for adverse weather but also for enhancing performance. Many high powered cars come available with AWD systems to give them great response for accelerating off the line and out of turns. The rear LSD would also keep that great rear wheel drive feel while putting power to the wheels with the most grip. I think adding AWD to more vehicles would help KIA explore a niche that’s being missed with other mainstream manufacturers as well.
