Kia Venga EV concept car made its world premiere at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show.

Kia Venga EV concept car is a full-time electric vehicle based on a B-segment Venga mini-MPV, which has been on sale across Europe since January this year. By its looks, the Venga EV concept does not differ from production vehicle. The model features identical exterior and interior design lay-out.

What sets the Venga EV concept vehicle from a production model is placed under the hood and that is an electric motor, which generates 80 kW of raw power and 280Nm of maximum torque. The front wheel-drive concept car also features a twin-pack 24kWh Lithium Ion Polymer battery pack placed under the boot floor, which enables the vehicle to drive 112 miles on a single charge!

Under the quick recharging cycle (50 kW) the battery can be recharged to 80 percent of its capacity within 20 minutes. Under the normal cycle (3.3 kW), 100 percent power is attained after eight hours.

The latest concept car from Kia is not a sports car, but it provides decent performance. According to Kia, the Venga EV is capable of accelerating from standstill to 62 mph in 11.8 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 87 miles per hour.

Kia says that Venga EV concept car represents brand’s continuing commitment to earth-friendly research and development and marks an additional dimension in the company’s development of eco-friendly vehicles.

i love the Venga. I wish it were coming to America. Next Rio anybody???? & that interior is SICK! the shifter is even bad A. I’ve seen the Venga many times even in the flesh, but that little bit of interior character is NICE.

I like it. Im begging KIA to bring this as Next Rio5 or, at least a highly modded version. This car needs wheels and a Spoiler, Exhaust, and intake too.

  3. I bring good news..Britain’s most popular weekly car magazine AUTO EXPRESS tested the Venga in 2 spec and with the 1.4litre petrol engine against the equivalent spec of the Citroen C3 Picasso…and guess what….IT WON! The C3 Picasso is the best in the supermini-mpv class and this is such great news and publicity for the car in the UK. Let’s hope it can hold its own against the soon-to-be-released (and rather stunning) new Vauxhall Mervia…

I really like the Venga, but I would want the all-electric Venga. And a longer range would be cool. I’m still interested, though. That interior looks sweet.

I think this is a good car to Kia’s first Electronic plug-in.

    Congrats, Kia.
Surprisingly, The UK media admitted it.

The UK media always depict Korean car as inferior. (eg. BBC Top Gear)
I don’t know… but, UK media known as world most Korean car hater in the world.

The truth is… their british maker, landrover and jaguar, far inferior than hyundai and Kia.(technology, quality, reliability…etc)
I can’t understand how british can bashing Korean car.
    (Sorry to british people)
but, check consumer report, jd power, autobild report, or ANY other 3rd party quality report in the world… the UK auto maker are WORST quallity auto makers in the world. For example, landrover, most troubled car maker in US, by NHTSA survey.

Even british steel maker properly produce ultra high strength steel, like South Korea POSCO.

Again, no offense to british people. But, i still can’t understand why UK media overly bashing Korean car.

  9. Actually the JD Power survery rated Kia quite well…

  10. Jason says:

They should put LEDs all around, replacing the bulbs. It’d reduce power consumption and extend battery life. Every little bit helps!

I too would love to see this vehicle in the USA. Maybe they’ll catch on that we want it (and the cee’d line). Here’s to hoping.

    🙂

PS: by “this vehicle” I mean the Venga and the Venga EV.

  12. JoshyLofty says:

@Jason — i think the cee’d line fits hyundai better right now. the american kias are all these sexy edgy looking cars. the cee’ds are all more rounded off. Kia is going more “sport” than hyundai and the cee’ds just don’t have that sporty appearance.

  13. Jason says:

Good point Josh. And they already have the Elantra Touring over here. If I had the money, I’d have an Elantra Touring.

  14. george says:

brink the Kia Venga EV Concept in corfu greece –

  15. Stan says:

Big oil runs our country so don’t expect this vehicle to come near our shores. You can’t even get the diesel version, but you can get the big oil’s version of a clean car it’s called a hybrid.
