Production ready 2010 Kia YN spied in Spain, this time with slightly less camouflage!
The long-awaited mini-MPV from Kia, codenamed YN, is due for release at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show next month. Until now, the YN has always been spotted in deep camo, which prevented us to see the styling of its front and rear fascias, but this time, it was caught while wearing slightly less camouflage.
Autoblog.es reader Tony picked up a few shots of YN while on visit in Spain. He caught a barely disguised production Kia YN with almost no camo on it’s rear. This is for the first time, that the rear has been exposed to the public and from what we can see, the rear looks sporty and a bit “Audi-sh”.
Judging by the looks of the lightly camouflaged prototype caught by a spy photographer, the production YN will stay very true to the concept car that Kia debut at Geneva auto show earlier this year. [Photosource: es.autoblog ] Find more Kia spy shots @ Kia-world.net!
Wow the overhang on both the front and rear seem extremely short… I can’t quite imagine how big this car is as we don’t have the Golf Plus here… is it around the size of a Honda Jazz (Fit)? The rear looks great, but a little bloated. Overall an excellent design~
YES they kept those strong, bold lines!
I remember seeing some shots of it with the front undisguised and I thought it was quite boring (especially when compared to the concept) but I my confidence in Kia’s desgin department is once again restored with these new spy shots =D
However, I don’t see how the rear looks Audi-ish at all…
its the full red tail-lamps tht make it look audi-ish
Well, I should have been more precise, the taillight design looks a lot like Audi Q5s taillight. This is not a problem with me at all. I love the design of NO3!!
Nice! Hope the next-gen Rio looks this nice.
Pics are sorta weird with the car sitting on those jacks. Think it will look even better with the back end on the ground. Looks a bit awkward with the hugh space around the back wheels. Can’t wait for this to get to our store thoguh. I’m sure it will be another beautiful car from the best value, best quality maker, will be another easy sell =). Hope it comes with the 7 year bumper to bumper as well, think it’ll only come with the 5 year warranty though.
Suppose to get here (Sweden) around the turn of the year.
To be honest those rear light clusters are weird, too much red plastic. It should be wrapped around the side panels in black or transparent plastic like the concept.
I like this version a LOT better than the concept. The concept almost made me regurgitate. Well, even the concept looked better than the VG. I HATE how the lines on the VG come to a point between the bumpers. I hope Kia does for the VG what they did for the YN.
It reminds me a lot of the new Suzuki Alto, which only has a 998cc engine (3 cylinder) so what sort of power plant is proposed for this vehicle??
1400 cc (1.4L) four cylinder, I think. Three cylinder engines have a downfall of not always being on a power stroke.
I think that the YN will be available in he same engine options as the Cee’d. The Alto should be quite smaller than the YN.
NO! The cee’d is bigger than this, and this is in no way related to the cee’d. The biggest engine this will get will be the 1.6L.
not to be offensive or ignorant or anything… does people actually drive that thing? I mean, that thing is TINY!
small cars are pretty popular in europe
The rear is extremely high!
look closely, its on jacks. thats why its high
This is considered B-Class, There are smaller cars called the A-Class! Is that scary, or what??!!
Ok so if this is a B-segment car, it should be around the size of the Honda Fit. If so, that is amazing! This car with all the options including the panoramic roof would be a segment leader. Let’s hope the driving dynamics and motor keep up with the design!
Why this is called the cee’d plus, I’ll never know. If anything it would be a cee’d minus! cee’d is C segment, YN is B segment.
Make this the US Rio, and these will pour off the shelves, and this will be a new and transformative beginning for the Rio!!!!
Damm Im really loving this car thats the type of stuff KIA must sell in the US to kill Mazda and Ford.
I keep hearing that this will be the new Rio, everybody is saying it. But, Hyundai-Kia’s Euro manufacturing plants don’t have the capacity to produce for worldwide. Maybe they will retool the Rio line at Sohari to produce these.
I love the rear wheel well design amd the rest of what I can see for that matter! This thing needs a hybrid and/or all-electric powertrain powering it. It looks really good on these partially-available views here!
Bryan, they have a small car Hybrid System testing in C’eeds and SOULs in Europe, If will end up in Accents, Rios, No3s, i20s.

They should sell this as a Rio 5 for the US and have a distinctive looking sedan or 3 door hatchback for the US as Well. The No.2 (Euro Rio) wouldn tmake sense for our market, becuase the No.3 is between the Soul and Rio, and here in the US theres not much room to work around the pricing. Unless they decide to make the Rio smaller and Cheaper. As Hyundai goes upmarket, they cant sell $9900 Accents forever, I think KIA should have a Rio 3 door.

The rumor is Hyundai is expected to get 1-3 new cars that are lower priced than the Sonata besides the Accent and Elantra.
The Forte Coupe should be the only car prcied between Rio and Forte Sedan.
The Veloster is the HND-3 Concept, maybe KIA might just bring the No.3 over as well. The HND-3 is Accent sized, the No.3 is Rio Sized.
i hope this IS the next RIO5 and we get the panoramic roof. that’d be AMAZING. i love it. its coming along great!
I just hope they make better wheels and tires though for the Rio and Accent this time, becuase the current packages suck. The wheels bend while parking to close curbs in the City, the stock OEM Kumho tires are slippery when wet, and the tires undermine the cars potential on that 140 MPH speedometer.

I got a ticket in an Accent for doing 137 in 2007, it was exhillerating
The State Trooper asked me “You can rev this car up that high.” “I said yeah you can, it better, and it gets 37 MPG too Trooper.” He said “wow, let me give you this ticket and let me you get on your way to work Mr……………..”

I was late to work that day, and of I was in an Urban county going that fast they would have taken me to jail. I was 3 miles under a reckless operation charge as well.
What a bad boy, HyundaiSmoke! Yet a good testimony to the power in the 4-cyl Hyundai motors. I agree on the tires and wheels needing to go upper grade for new HyunKia small cars, though, the stock OEM Hankook SUV Wilderness tires that came with our 2001 Kia Sportage 4X4 lasted 102,000 miles and weren’t totally shot when finally bought new SUV for the Sportsman! I honestly can not believe how long they wore for us. And all the time no flats, wobbling, crappy ride, etc., all goodness in that regard for my wife and I, too.
We wound the Optima up to about 127 MPH, and we were only at 4,750 RPM. In Michigan reckless driving charge is anything more than 40 MPH over the speed limit. I wouldn’t mind testing it and a few other cars’ potential out at Bonneville. That would be pure excitement.
