The Forte5 SX was first seen at the Chicago Auto Show earlier in the year, showing off a European-inspired hatchback design that impressed all in attendance.
Complementing attractive style is a powerful 1.6L gasoline direct-injected turbocharged 4-cylinder that delivers 201 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque.
That gives Kia a pair of high-powered Forte family members, the Koup SX being the other, to hang their hat on.
The Forte5 is expected in showrooms before the end of the year, with pricing to be announced at a later date.
2014 Forte 5-Door EX, SX Trim Levels
The Forte5 comes in a pair of different trim levels, the EX and SX, as well as having a pair of engine options.
What may be most pleasing to customers is the laundty lisr of standard features that are not normally found in a compact.
The Forte5 has power under the hood, with the EX featuring a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder GDI engine that delivers 173 horsepower and 154 lb.-ft. of torque through a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The SX is a performance machine that is powered forward by a 1.6-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine, representing a first for the Forte family.
Drivers have the option to choose either a 6-speed manual, or a 6-speed automatic that comes with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.
Kia has built a solid reputation of providing value for money, which is once again showcased in the great array of amenities and technology on the Forte5.
The base EX trim comes complete with UVO eServices featuring a rear camera display, Bluetooth wireless, 16-inch alloys, SiriusXM Satellite Radio3, FlexSteer, leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio and cruise control buttons, LED positioning headlights with fog lights, power windows, and a tilt and telescoping steering column.
Forte 5 SX Features Dual Chrome Exhaust, Carbon Fiber Style Accents
There are even more features to be found on the SX, including dual chrome exhaust tips, 18-inch alloys, and LED tail lights.
The front fascia on the Forte5 SX has a larger bumper and grille openings, as well as black gloss grille inserts, alloy sports pedals, larger front breaks, and carbon fiber style accents on the front and rear seats.
The carbon fober look is also carried over to the lower front fascia and rear valance.
Options on both the EX and SX trim levels include navigation system with HD Raio, HID healights, 10-way power adjustable driver’ seat, heated steering wheel, sunroof, heated and bentialted drivers seat, SmartKey woth push button start, heated rear outboard seats, electric chromatic rearview mirror and dual-zone automatic climate control.
2014 Kia Forte 5 Engines
Kia has made their most powerful car to date with the Forte5 SX. The 1.6-liter GDI turbo 4-cylinder sends power to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual or available automatic transmission.
The engine delivers a powerful 201 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 195 lb.-ft. of torque between 1,750-4,500 rpm. Double overhead cams with dual continuously variable valve timing is featured on the advanced powertrain, helping improve performance and efficiency.
The 2.0-liter GDI powerplant producing 173 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 154 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,700 rpm is standard in the Forte5 EX.
Performance is further improved with the addition of a sport-tuned suspension with a McPherson strut setup in front and a torsion beam rear design.
Standard tires on the base model are 205/55R-16 tires, while the sporty SX comes standard with 225/40R-18 tires.
